There's something about Bay City bridges and me... Bay City, Michigan is, to me, a rather confusing town to drive in... one that has 'downtown' areas all over the map, multitudes of neighborhood bars and bridges all over the place! I find it an easy place to get lost in... and dislike driving there by myself. Being a 'grown-up' however, I have occasion to do so.
Many years ago I had a meeting to attend in Bay City... my husband gave me specific directions to the meeting place and of course, I knew that in reverse order I'd make it home..... and I did. The next morning the local news reported that the bridge was broken.. opened and wouldn't go back down. It was closed, never to be opened again. We joke that if the bridge had closed the night before I'd still be driving around Bay City looking for a way home.
Last Thursday I had an appointment with my doctor in Bay City... the drive is pretty much a 'straight shot' on a street familiar to me. On my way back home the bridge was raised - as if for a ship to go through - but there were barricades in front and children playing on the road there with their bikes and roller skates. It was closed! Logic broke my panic and I followed the vehicles in front of me... making a right turn... following the river. Thanks to my cellphone I was reassured by el spouso that I was on the right tack... and proceeded to the next bridge. There were a few choices to be made along the way. Fortunately I held my calm and made the correct ones all the way home.
Why would they close down a whole bridge... by leaving it open? I think they were getting ready for 'River Roar'... an annual event where daredevils use extremely noisy boats with giant motors that go 100 miles an hour and race up and down the Saginaw River! I like boats... a fun way to get from here to there if you're on a lake or river... but watching a bunch of them speeding up and down the river? No thank you! I'm doubly glad I don't live in Bay City and only have to drive there to visit... or go to keep a doctor's appointment..... all those bridges; all those downtowns and bars; all those tourists! Yuck! ...and what is the environmental impact on the river shores? ... on the creatures trying to live in the river? ... is it really responsible behavior on the part of the 'city fathers?'

Blogger's gettin' there...i think! The only problems i had today were in the 'post and publish' department. Not sure if it's just slow or if i actually had to post & publish 2 or 3 times in order to get entries to my page! I'm talking about Stuff where i prefer answering questions to the various memes that are so much fun to get involved with! Hey, i hope you check that page out once in awhile. OttO's been saying lately that the only one who ever visits Otto Once More is her mom.... that would be me of course! Anyway, she was so frustrated with Blogger that she actually moved her 'basic' blog over to Pitas.com. I still have to change her link here but you can check her new look at OttoSite.
On a whole 'nuther tangent... there's a brand-spanking NEW e-zine... it's called BloggerZine Check it out... you might as well start reading it while it's in the beginning stages! It promises to be quite enlightening! Hmmmm... let me see. Is there anything else i need to tell you about? Oh yeah!..... phototime.... try it; you'll like it! I already entered my first photo at a day in the life.

Monday Madness
1. Who hosts your blog or personal website? If you don't have one, have you considered starting a blog?
Blogger was my first host but I've never been really satisfied with it and it's getting worse. I started a blog on WebCrimson next and I like it!
2. What prompted you to choose the color combination/background for your personal blog or website?
I've had several changes in color and background with Blogger. They are the only place i've found it easy to add my own background. WebCrimson allows me to change color but i haven't been able to add my own background... yet! I guess i choose my background to reflect my personality.
3. Have you ever considered switching 'blog hosts/services'??
YES!!! That's why i have a blog at WebCrimson... but there's so much on my old blogger blogs i hate to just up and quit...
....and a bonus question because I need to know that my faithful participants will keep coming back after I move.........
4. Will you visit Monday Madness at it's new "home?"
Of COURSE i will. I just LUV Monday Madness!

Random Questions; Random Days...
Close your eyes... Feel and listen... Write down every thing you hear and everything you feel.
I hear the hum of my computer... the sounds of the television as my husband sits in the living room... channel-surfing..... thunder cracks in the background, surrounding me with it's threat of imminent rain, or no, I hear the gentle rainfall under the thunderous noise... the splashing of water on undercarriage's of passing cars... Now the rain is splashing against the windows as the wind throws it about, much like the hoses in a carwash.... the wind ruffling the Maple tree at my back door.
Summer is almost here, but we still have the doors open. Soon it will be too hot and we will turn on the air-conditioners... their hum drowning out the sounds of the outdoor world. But now, already the wind is blowing cold into the house and I must close the doors before it gets downright chilly in here... not to mention - wet from the rain! Only this morning the sun was shining... the weather in the low 70's... and we were considering a visit to the Children's Zoo. Then we committed to meet a daughter with the graduation photos Frank took of our second grandson, so we postponed the zoo trip. I'm glad we didn't go; there will be another day.

I'm back! It's been a busy week... i actually slept in my own bed twice in the last seven days... the rest of the time sleeping in one or another of my family's homes. Much as i love every one dearly... it's a treat to be home, comfortable in my own nest... but that's another story and another blog. Today i'm merely here to answer the question on one of my favorite memes....
What's On....
What's On your favorite magazine cover Right Now?
This week on the cover of Newsweek - my favorite news magazine - there is a picture of a tiny, perfectly formed baby... still living in the safety and warmth of it's mother's womb. The title - 'Should a Fetus Have Rights?' announces the feature article. I thank God i never had to make such a choice as discussed in this article. My sympathy and my love both go out to the victims in every situation where this decision must be made... the baby as well as the frightened and confused mother.
